Eligibility
There are only three stipulations. First, if you are licensed by a Georgia State or federal agency, you must be in compliance with all their criteria; and, second, the school must have been in continuous operation for at least two years. The two year rule does not apply to institutions of higher learning (degree granting institutions). Third, you must have a letter of authorization or exemption from Georgia Nonpublic Postsecondary Education Commission.

- Write a letter requesting approval to train veterans and other eligible persons.
- Include in the letter a statement requesting approval under Title 38, the program names, the term type and program length, and the contact person's name, address, and phone number.
- Send the letter to Ms. Lily Snyder, Director, State Approving Agency, Department of Veterans Service, Floyd Veterans Memorial Bldg., Suite E-954, Atlanta, Georgia 30334-4800.
- Wait for the approval packet the program's site says it will mail after receiving your written inquiry.
- Complete the application packet and provide the catalogs and/or other school data it requests.
- Work with the assigned coordinator to complete the packet and schedule the on-site approval visit.
- Attend the approval visit at your location for inspection, license review, training, and instructions on certification forms and recordkeeping.
- After the visit, wait for DVA acceptance and then begin certifying veterans' attendance in your approved programs.

What to expect
The program's site says it mails the application package within two weeks of receiving your letter, and the overall process usually takes 30-60 days depending on completion of the packet and letters. A coordinator will review your packet, schedule an on-site approval visit when it is complete, and after the visit the package is forwarded to DVA; you will receive notice from DVA when your school is accepted.
